As a new POS student, you might feel excited, nervous, unsure, or even overwhelmed about the journey you are about to begin. So what advice can we give you to be successful at POS?

Our instructors offer some words of wisdom below. These knowledgeable dentists have gone through the program themselves and have an outstanding orthodontic background, together teaching 8,000 hours each year and have treated over 45,000 orthodontic patients. Learn from their experience in this short video.

1. Close your computer. Don't worry about the software and just listen to what the instructor is talking about. -Dr. Emmy Le

2. Have an open mind. Come in with a lot of caffeine in your system so you're excited and energized. -Dr. Fawaz Habib

3. Ask a lot of questions. Take notes. Don't be afraid to raise your hand if something isn't clear to you because if you have a question about it, it's very likely that someone else in the room also has the same question. -Dr. Suzie Bergman

4. Take this program one step at a time. The information will be accumulative at the end and everything will make sense. -Dr. Sarmad Channo

5. Expect to question whether you're making the right decision or not. Those feelings are normal. Stay at it. It's kind of like running a marathon, before you know it you've got a lot of confidence in your stride. -Dr. Michael Layton

6. Don't be overwhelmed. It's a long journey. There's going to be a lot of confusion in the beginning because there's so much to learn, it's like pieces of a 1000 piece puzzle. The more the pieces fall into place, the more it becomes clear. So be calm, be patient. -Dr. Richard Richter

7. Start looking for cases so that you know once you are able to do cases start doing those cases. That will help you gain much more experience in your course and then pay for the course itself. - Dr. Jacques Cilliers

8. Start treating a patient, a real live patient, before you even know what you're doing. Most people think that's crazy. [They think] "I should wait to start a patient until the end of the course." Wrong. You got it all wrong. It doesn't work that way. What you need to do is plug in to the Case Diagnosis and Mentoring System that is here in POS. You have instructors who have been prequalified for you that will put out a diagnosis and treatment for your patient. They'll even tell you if it's not a good case for you. They'll do the case selection for you so you will be successful. So just simply get to work. -Dr. Don McGann, Founder of Progressive Orthodontic Seminars
