The long awaited update to IPSoft is finally here. SmileStream Beta was released worldwide to POS students and graduates on July 25.
Higher accuracy in digital models discovered yesterday
POS instructor, Dr. Suzie Bergman, and the VP and CEO of OrthoSelect have been working hard to improve the accuracy of digital study model articulations and analysis in IPSoft and SmileStream. They have discovered how to more correctly orient the jpeg images that POS doctors receive from the OrthoSelect 3D-viewer software.
“Working with a 3D image on a 2-dimensional plane has its challenges,” explained Chris Derieg, VP of Business Development at OrthoSelect. “If a digital study model is being compared to an intra-oral photo, for example, but is not oriented with the same aspect, parallax could cause the model’s occlusion to appear incorrect by comparison. With Dr. Bergman’s help, we’ve found a better, more accurate way to represent our digital study model in a jpeg format.” This will, of course, result in better analysis for doctors using OrthoSelect digital study models in IPSoft and SmileStream.
OrthoSelect’s digital processing now includes technicians assigned specifically to ensure that models to be used for IPSoft and SmileStream are oriented correctly before jpeg files are saved and uploaded. POS students and graduates should see significant improvement of their lateral model images, and model analysis.
Along with this improvement, OrthoSelect announced that left and right lateral views will now be included at no additional cost when doctors order the double-occlusal view option on their online prescription form.
We are appreciative of Dr. Bergman and OrthoSelect's dedication to improving the tools that dentists use!
